Allow me to skip the snark and jump into even more phenomenal hotness coming to Mandarin Oriental in barely a weeks time... Twist, the first U.S. restaurant by Michelin Three Star Winner Chef Pierre Gagnaire (pronounced gone-YAIR).

Chef Gagniare seems to be a kinda Jimi Hendrix of french chefs. He seems to take great pleasure in highly experimental excursions which - like Hendrix - can result in transcendence or disaster. Adventure in food? Scary. Adventure in food when you're being driven by a Three Star Michelin chef? Sign me up.

As if that weren't enough, Twist's interiors - designed by Adam Tihany - are as equally stunning as everything else in the Mandarin Oriental.

When you look up into the Sky Lobby floor of the Mandarin Oriental, those white spots you see in the window are from the 300 or so lit globes hanging from above.

Definitely sign me up, but it might take the entire GDP of a small country to pay for a meal. It will be interesting to see how he prices the menu compared to Guy Savoy, which I think is currently the most expensive (over JR, Mix and Alex). I'm guessing his full menu will come in just under $400 w/o pairings. BTW, Guy had to lower his original pricing and open a side bar serving appetizers.

C'mon Sprunt... City Center deserves the coverage VT and other Vegas blogs are doing. This probably will be last mega resort to open in Las Vegas in years.

Sprunt, if you were following VT last year at this time, you would see that Chuck covered Encore just as much, if not more, than he is covering CityCenter right now. CityCenter is the most expensive privately funded development in America - that's something worth talking about. There really isn't much happening in Vegas right now other than AriaCenter, and hell, I want to know everything about it before I see it opening night.

Dined there with a party of four for their prix fixe Christmas dinner. Service was phenomenal as was presentation and canapes. Ambience and decor were incredible. Very very disappointed with two of the three main courses, fish and chicken. Chicken was extremely bland though tender and the fish tasted "fishy." Meat option was excellent. Restaurant seemed to receive mixed reviews on other web sites.

I was actually there on the 24th and thought the scallop dish with foie gras soup was probably the best dish I've ever had.

I had the sea bass as well and thought it was quite good.
