I've been to Las Vegas a dozen times, and the only time I've seen Lake Las Vegas is from the air on approach to LAS.

I'm with ya, in all of my many trips - only seen it from the air.

My wife did stay out there for work one time and said it was very nice, but the 50-60 dollar cab ride to the strip was a bitch!

Sucks if you were employeed there but I think it's better to see some of the Ultra lux inventory saturation disappear.

Lake Las Vegas was a really nice development (even if misguided). The whole thing needs to go through bankruptcy to shed debt. Unfortunately, we don't have the numbers to know whether it can be profitable even without the debt.

I wouldn't be suprised if this becomes a big comeback story in a couple years ala the Port Liberte bankruptcy in Jersey City. Unfortunately, it will probably lose its luster in the process.

Never stayed at the RC, but I stayed at the Hyatt (now Loews) for a conference a few years back, and was underwhelmed. Not only is it waaaay off the beaten path, but the Monte Lago village was an overpriced ghost town, and this was long before the Great Recession. I did like the little Casino Montelago, but not enough to want to go back. My heart goes out to village business owners that have survived to this point, only to find out the premier hotel in the area is closing. I actually expected Loews would throw in the towel first, but they must attract enough group/convention business to keep the lights on. I hope parchedearth is right, but the next 3-5 years look like they will not be kind to LLV.
